At the start of every year, we return to work refreshed, relaxed and with a sense of excitement of what the year will bring. However, as our summer tan begins to fade and our holiday becomes a distant memory, we tend to get back into the same old routine again. You can become more productive and motivated to complete everything on your to-do list by doing these 3 simple things:
If you have more energy in the afternoon or early in the morning, knowing when your energy level is at its peak can help you be more productive at work. Since you have energy to get out of your system, use this time to complete longer, more complicated assignments. You’ll zoom through them during this time, and your concentration will be much stronger. When your energy levels are lower, use that time to complete small, simple tasks.
Planning out how you’ll handle each of your tasks, whether big or small, can cut down the time you spend on them. For instance, if you have to write a report, create an organised plan including the topics you’ll address in it. Be as specific as you can in your action plans. You’ll have less time to dilly-dally when you know exactly what you’re doing after each step. The best time to write out your action plans is in the morning before you go to work or the night before. Even if you don’t work on the weekends, write down the tasks you’ll complete on Monday as well as the action plans for each task.
Working through your breaks doesn’t always mean you’re being productive. You’re only tiring yourself out and creating more stress for yourself. Take advantage of the breaks you have, and get out of the office. Go for a drive or walk around to get some fresh air and clear your head. When you come back, you’ll feel more rejuvenated and get back to work with more energy.
Whether you are a business owner or an employee, these tips can benefit you and make you more productive and relaxed at work. Sometimes, when we feel sluggish or unmotivated to complete tasks on our to-do lists, it’s a sign that we need to change something about what we’re currently doing. Improving the way you go about your work is a normal part of your professional life. Keep an open mind, and change how you do things when necessary to help you stay motivated and productive.
