So Mandy, what brought you to eQ?
My first contact was a call from Margaret in the office to invite me to a Personal Success Intensive last year. She sounded very motherly, caring and nurturing and it was a case of right caller at the right time. I am happily married with three beautiful kids and something was still missing for me, so I went along to the weekend. At that time I hadn’t experienced anything like it and to be honest was completely shell shocked, it cracked me open and I realised there was a lot more to life than what I thought I knew.
What happened after that weekend?
I felt moved to continue my work so I went to Life Design. I was so fearful of what would happen each day that I vomited for the first four days. The whole experience just blew my mind and really opened me up to a new way of thinking. It validated me as an individual with a place in this world and a purpose. I have grown so much as a person from my experience at Life Design and from my mentoring with Peter Conna.
What have you been getting out of your mentoring with Peter?
OMG…… personal value. I measure my success on love and growth; the mentoring has helped me become a better version of myself to be honest. I have changed from someone who didn’t really believe in myself to knowing that with heart and soul I can achieve whatever I want. I’m being held accountable and Pete pushes me one step further, he is always there for me and mentoring has been phenomenal. I got my business idea at Life Design and I have been working on this with Pete.
What is the business that you are creating?
billylovesbibi.com.au. Baby and toddler T-shirts made out of Bamboo, designed and made in Australia. I have been working on it since June last year. I have had lots of ups and downs along the way with all my original concepts not working so far. At times I have questioned where I am heading and that’s when your coach or mentor pushes you one step further, they remind you of your “why” and believe in you until you get back on purpose. When you know it is the right thing to do and you are heading in the right direction you become resourceful and resilient. The site is up and the mail order is in the works and we are selling at markets from November.
What does the future look like for you?
I have a beautiful vision that I am working on now with my husband and Pete. It both scares me and excites me every day. A centre for mothers without mothers (like myself) and single parents, with babies and small children who have little or no support at home so they can receive love, support and practical help for themselves and be better able to love and care for their babies.
I am now in charge of logistics for the Sydney Personal Success Intensive weekends, which I absolutely love and will continue to do. Each month I learn something new and develop new skills, I feel like it gets me one step closer to the centre.
Has this lifted your confidence?
Without a doubt, though it’s more about contribution and supporting people to grow and change their lives. The love that people get for themselves during that weekend is the truly magical part for me.
What would you share with others about your journey to your success so far?
I am so grateful for my journey so far and giving back in any way I can is a blessing. The mentoring or coaching is very important, without it I wouldn’t be where I am now.
Be in the environment of like minded people as much as you can, I have had some friendships fall away and that is OK. I have formed lots of new ones and we have a much greater connection and are far more supportive.
There is so much on offer in the way of support in the eQ community so take advantage and get a coach, go to Success Club, use a buddy, start a connect group and offer to assist at the programs. Listen carefully to your coaches advice and apply it as soon as you can. Use all of it to support you and never give up. Just keep going.
