Hey Michelle! Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m the mother of 3 gorgeous children, happily married and have been living in Brisbane for 12 years after 3 years in Melbourne and originally from South Australia.
After 25 years in the hairdressing industry I have now found my purpose as a Life Coach. I genuinely enjoy meeting people and love that we’re all so different, we all have something great to offer. I truly believe that if we’re willing to be vulnerable, accept ourselves, surrender to where we are at right now, if we can go within to discover our own truth, we can live our most brilliant, inspired and exciting lives.
How did you come to eQ?
I was looking for some time out from my family and I saw the PSI weekend advertised. I knew that in 2013 I wanted to do a retreat or a workshop to reward myself for being a full time mum for 9 years and to get reinvigorated and get thinking about what was next for me. The way I would best describe where I was at back then is I felt as if I had tucked my dreams away in a drawer for a while. They hadn’t disappeared altogether they just weren’t on top of the pile. All I needed to do was dig deep to find them again. I thought 2 days at PSI could be a great start. I decided that even if it wasn’t very good I could always sneak away and watch a movie or go and do something else!!! I even had an alternative bag in the car with a book and a change of clothes as a backup plan.
It turns out I didn’t need a back up plan. That weekend sparked something that changed everything and I’ll be ever grateful for meeting Peter Conna and eQ.
You did our Life Coach training a few months back. What made you decide to become a coach?
I became a coach as it had been tapping on my shoulder for many years, longer than would like to admit. I don’t actually know when it was, so long ago really that I heard about the concept of a life coach and I clearly remember being drawn to it. Back then I thought, I could never do that. Who do I think I am to consider that?
At PSI I was tempted to book in to the Life Coaching program and then I realised that I really needed to do Life Design to first shift some belief systems that hadn’t been serving me very well most of my life. At Life Design I really got in touch with who I am and I came home knowing exactly what to do next.
What was your biggest learning from the coaching course?
I learned that I am enough. Over the years I have spent a lot of time, money & energy on personal development and I recognised during the coaching course that all I really needed to start my own coaching business was a system and self confidence. The incredible presenter and simple, yet effective, program delivered more than I expected.
How is your coaching business going?
It has blown my mind how quickly it has taken off, considering Im also at home full time with my 2 year old. This has been a big learning for me…anything is possible.
My coach has taught me to ask the question, “How can I?” instead of letting my current situation stop me from moving forward.
I had set a goal to have 3 clients after 6 months and I have actually achieved that goal in 3 months. It’s feels like I’m truly on purpose.
Who specifically do you work with?
Women that want to reconnect with their dreams during or after raising their children.
How do you get on running a business and being there for your family?
Some days I am challenged to manage my expectations around what I want to get done for my business, being a nurturing mother for my children and a loving wife to my husband. I meditate most days and find I need to check myself on a daily basis to make sure I am not setting expectations that are unrealistic.
Friendships mean everything to me. Loving & honest support from my girlfriends is what gets me through the tough times. Women supporting women.
